Baisuke Yamaoka (voiced by Guan Junyan), who used to be the young master of the house, gave up his ancestral career because he was fascinated by anecdotes and became a wandering writer, collecting all kinds of strange stories and writing stories about stories. On a rainy night, he met a mysterious trio: Mr. Yoshi, who is good at deception (voiced by Longsheng Nakao). The puppet master who is good at manipulating dolls, Miss A Yin (voiced by Shamiao Kobayashi), and the imitator who is good at bird mailing, Mr. long ear (voiced by Ruo Benyuo). Their movements are erratic, appear and disappear at any time, and there are often mysterious and strange events in the places where they appear. By coincidence, Baisuke followed them into the dark world and witnessed a series of strange events. And these strange stories provide material for him to write the Story of hundred things. Among the various events experienced by Baijie, the "ghosts" are often caused by the distorted human nature in daily life. The trio used their unique means to expose those human evils in front of people.
