Biology doctor Seth (Paulo Costanzo) and his wife Polly (Jill Wagner) drive to the suburbs when they encounter another couple on the way. Dennis (Shea Whigham) and Lace (Rachel Kerbs) are fugitive lovebirds who want to sneak into Mexico to start a new life, but their car breaks down on the road. So Dennis hijacked the Seth couple's car and took them hostage. Polly who was driving the car accidentally ran over a strange creature and caused the car to have a flat tire. When they got out of the car to check, Seth was surprised to find that the flattened animal still had signs of life. Frightened, they fled to a gas station, but soon discovered that they were surrounded by an unknown creature full of thorns.
