During World War II, a group of American prisoners of war were held in German prisons. The story takes place in prison 17 (Stalag 17). Two prisoners were killed by the Germans when they tried to escape, and the prisoners in the prison began to suspect that one of them had betrayed them. Everyone focuses on one person-the cunning Sefton (played by William Holden William Holden). Although Sefton is also a prisoner, he makes a lot of money by organizing horse racing, selling alcohol and renting binoculars. Soon after, an American lieutenant Dunbar (Don Taylor) is taken to prison. He carried out an explosion at the Frankfurt railway station, killing a lot of German troops. However, the incident was immediately learned by German officer Oberst von Scherbach (Otto Preminger Otto Preminger). Sefton was thought to be the mole who leaked the news and was beaten up. Yet he still claims to be innocent. Dunbar is about to be executed by the Nazis. Who is the real mole? Can Lieutenant Dunbar dodge a bullet?
