The play is adapted from the best-selling New York Times novel of the same name published by Harlan Coben in 2012. Coben will be in charge of the eight episodes with lead screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst and Richard Fee, with Daniel O'Hara as the lead director. This is the fifth project under the super contract of 14 books in five years between Netflix and Harlan Coben. Following previous collaborative projects, the show will be set in the UK. The story focuses on three people who live a safe life, each of whom has hidden secrets, and the people closest to them will not doubt it.
