The story takes place in Madrid in 1937. Justol (Juan Diego Porto Juan Diego Botto) is a smart and capable lawyer with a boundless future and a beautiful wife Manuela (played by Maria Ward Mari í a Valverde). When the Spanish Civil War broke out, the patriotic Justo decisively gave up his career, joined the Republican Army and went to war. There is no news of Husto, and Manuela leads a life of fear and hiding with her two children, Paloma (Ioana Vaquero Ivana Baquero) and Raphael. In an accident, Raphael died unfortunately, in great despair, Manuela is still convinced that her husband is not dead, and use this as a spiritual support to bring up Paloma. In the twinkling of an eye, one day, Manuel caught a glimpse of her husband in a picture of a concentration camp.
