The Conductor (2018)
The adaptation of a true story tells the story of the first female conductor invited to perform in the New York Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra to pursue her dreams. "as a woman, you should talk to your husband and teach your children." It sounds old-fashioned now, but it was regarded as a dogma in New York in the 1920s. Determined to be a conductor since childhood, she was ridiculed in the male-dominated music world, but did not hesitate to fly to Europe to fight for a chance to go to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Berlin. Unexpectedly, her beloved man wanted her to stay for love. When love and dream fall into a dilemma, in the face of the cruelty of reality and the layout of fate, where should she go? Directed by Dutch director Maria Peters, she delicately described her life as "the greatest female conductor in history" and won the Golden Film Award at the Dutch Film Festival.
