The show is a prequel to the 1982 Night Devil Crystal movie, a total of 10 episodes, exploring the world of Thra. The film is mainly about the rupture of the Night Devil Crystal thousands of years ago, creating two races: the terrible Skeksis-- who use the remaining power of the Night Devil Crystal to keep themselves alive, and a group of kind, gentle wizards Mystics. The cruel Skeksis is committed to immortality, and Jen and Kira, the last two survivors of the Gelfling race, must take the last remaining fragments of the crystal on an adventure to repair the crystal and avoid the scourge that will destroy their world. The show will tell the story of three young Gelflings people who discover a terrible secret that sparks an uprising against a brutal emperor.
