The Eclipse (2022)

On August 11, 1999, most of Europe fell into temporary darkness due to a solar eclipse. At that time in Serbia, people locked themselves in homes or shelters for fear of darkness. Filmmaker Natasha Urban uses this solar eclipse as a theme and metaphor. Through stories and experiences collected from family and acquaintances, she travels back in the past and revives her own growing up story during the War in the former Yugoslavia. It is thought-provoking. "Is the war really far away from us?" In this existentialist image work, the director re-examines the past and the present from the perspective of an artist. The 16-mm analog lens has a rare but precious tranquility and philosophical meaning.
