After four months of hard shooting in the wild, Michael Powell boldly used innovative techniques and experiments in his first independent work on the breezy island of Shetland, which later became a familiar symbol of his career. Fate of the World tells a moving story in which the traditions and lives of a remote island and its inhabitants are threatened by a rapidly industrialized world. In order to resolve the dispute over whether the residents of the island should give up their local livelihood and emigrate to the interior of the island, two childhood friends, following the ancient tradition, climbed the highest cliff on the island. As a result, the peace on the island was destroyed and the two tribes were divided. It was restored by the BFI National Archives in 1990, and its picture and sound were further restored in the DVD version released in 2004. "fate of the World" is loved by many directors, including Martin Scorsese.
