Benedict Cumberbatch plays Julian Paul Assange (Julian Paul Assange), founder of WikiLeaks. WikiLeaks, a large document leak and analysis website, caused an uproar by releasing as many as 92000 secret documents of US troops stationed in Afghanistan in 2010. Julian Paul Assange, who will be played by Cumberbatch, is a director and spokesman for the site. He has majored in physics and mathematics, and worked as a programmer and hacker. Assange himself, as controversial as the website, has won a number of honors for his declassification work and received arrest warrants from Interpol. Assange, who was wanted in 2010 on suspicion of raping and sexually assaulting two women in Sweden, surrendered to the London police on December 7, 2010 and was escorted to Westminster District Court for extradition hearing and his application for bail was rejected. On August 16, 2012, Assange was granted political asylum in Ecuador.
