The story takes place in a world very similar to our earth, where people's souls become spiritual gods and follow themselves. Lila (Dakota Blue Richards) lives with her uncle, president of the University of Jordan, from an early age. She is passionate, brave and righteous. One day Mrs. Colt (nicole kidman) is going to the north, hoping that Lila will accompany her. The curious Lila happily agreed. Before leaving, her uncle gave her a golden compass and told her that only one person in the world could read it. Lila can not only get the answer to the question from the golden compass, but also learn the mystery of her own life. Along the way, Mrs. Colt behaved strangely, and Lila found that the name of her missing friend Roger was written on a list of Mrs. Tate. Roger, like other children, was abducted to the far north to become a scientific experiment. Leila found the opportunity to escape and set off to save Roger.
