The Janes (2022)

In the spring of 1972, police raided an apartment on the south side of Chicago and arrested seven women. They all belonged to a secret assisted abortion group called Jane, which provided safe and affordable underground services to women then subject to abortion bans through pseudonyms, camouflage and safe houses. In the face of harassment from the mafia, the church and the government, this group of "Jane's sisters" have shown unparalleled courage and compassion for the women who need help most. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2022 and was shortlisted in the main competition for American documentaries.
