In the 1970s, Nicholas Gregken (James McAvoy James McAvie), a young Scottish doctor, came to impoverished Uganda with a great ideal of saving lives for the poor. Here he met a white colleague of the Medical Association, the beautiful Sarah (played by Gillian Anderson Gilly Anderson), and was deeply attracted by it. At a rally, Nicholas was able to meet Ugandan President Andy Amin (Forest Whitaker Forrest Whitaker). Amin's remarks fascinated Nicholas and even worshipped him. After the rally, he rescued Amin, who was injured in the accident, and was appreciated for his Scottish status. After that, he approached the cruel monarch as the president's royal doctor. The film is adapted from Giles Foden's novel of the same name, for which the hero Forrest Whitaker won the Best Actor Award at the 79th Academy Awards.
