The film begins in October 1959, and according to breaking news, Hollywood star Flynn (Kevin Klein) has just died. He died in the arms of his lover, Beverly (Dakota Fanning), a 17-year-old film star. More surprisingly, Beverly's mother Florence (Susan Sarandon) not only knows but also allows the relationship, which has been going on for two years.
