When she was very young, a terrible illness took away the sight, hearing and voice of the teenage Helen Keller (Patty Duke), causing her to fall into endless loneliness and darkness, and there was nothing Helen's parents could do to see her daughter's desperate pain. As time went on, Helen grew up, and her unhappy life made her character perverse and violent, like a Mustang that could not be tamed. Just then, a tutor named Anne (Anne Bancroft Anne Bancroft) came to Helen. Although Anne didn't have much teaching experience, she melted Helen's inner ice a little with her patience and tenderness, and taught her the taste of all things in the world, the warmth of ordinary love and affection. Under the guidance of Anne, Helen finally came out of the shadow and regained the hope of life.
