Charlie (Logan Lerman Logan Lerman) is a shy and lonely high school freshman, with over-age sensitivity and lacrimal glands, always silently observing his family and friends, is a typical "wallflower teenager". His adolescence was full of setbacks, including the death of his aunt to buy him a birthday present, the suicide of his best friend, being bullied by his peers, unrequited love, and so on.
