The Physician (2013)

Set in 11th-century Persia, an Englishman, in order to learn medicine to cover up the bodies of his Catholics, joined a Jewish-only medical school in Isbahan. His teacher, Avicenna, was a famous Jewish scientist, thinker and doctor in history. Avicenna has more than 200 works, the most famous of which is the complete Book of philosophy and Science, which was a high-level encyclopedia at that time; another great work is the Medical Code, which is still regarded as a medical classic in Western countries until the 17th century. The Doctor combines epic and fiction to show the fearless spirit of a group of people exploring true knowledge in a century ruled by ignorance and superstition.
