Young San Francisco detective Jay Austin (Mark Harmon) is assigned to work with Colonel Alan Caldwell (Sean Connery) to investigate the murder of a policewoman at Pussidy Base in central San Francisco, a well-known military base with a history of 212 years. Colonel Alan used to be Jay Austin's officer in the army, the two have always been incompatible, tit-for-tat, and to make matters worse, Jay Austin fell in love with Colonel Alan's daughter Donna (Meg Ryan), the two are even more antagonistic. However, with the investigation of the case, they found that their relationship with each other was getting closer and closer, and they had to let bygones be bygones before they could bring this terrible killer to justice!
