After the end of the American Civil War, John, a former army colonel, and James, a comrade-in-arms, led two teams of men through no man's land in Mexico, but their scarcity made it difficult for them to move. In the end, John had to take the horses of his entourage to the unpopular Mexicans to exchange money for $35 each. At this time, James promised to lead the Mexicans to flee the place.
