Produced by Palomar Pictures, directed by Sydney Pollack. In the early 1930s, during the Great Depression in the United States, Loki held a marathon of 100 pairs of dancers for Hollywood. Each of these runners had different goals, some in order to make money, some in order to be in the movie, and some were bored to enter the competition. As the weeks passed, several pairs of major competitors encountered different unexpected problems. The film shows the contradictions in American society by reflecting the psychology of all kinds of characters in a realistic way. Throughout the film, the plot arrangement, skill handling and actor performance are excellent. He was nominated for Best Director in the 42nd session (1969), but only won one Academy Award for Best supporting Actor.
