In the early 1990s, during the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia, beloved relatives and friends fought against each other among the residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the former neighbors turned against each other, thus triggering a tragic conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina that lasted for three years. The film "startling the World" is about the experience of newlyweds Duma (Serbs) and Anna (Croats) in this context. The conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina was a local inter-ethnic and inter-religious war that broke out in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the former Yugoslavia from 1992 to 1995. The composition of the residents of the Republic of Poland is complex, of which Orthodox Serbs account for 31.4 per cent of the population and Catholic Croats account for 17.3 per cent of the population. In 1991, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Muslim and Croat communities demanded independence, while the Serbs advocated staying in Yugoslavia. In 1992, under the proposal of the European Community, despite the strong opposition of the Serbs, the Bohemu and Croat communities held a referendum on independence and declared Bosnia and Herzegovina an independent sovereign state on the basis of the results of the referendum. Since then, there have been armed conflicts among the three ethnic groups in various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In April, the United States and the European Community recognized Bosnia and Herzegovina as a sovereign state, leading to conflict.
