The small town of Blaine, Missouri, is preparing for the town's 150th anniversary celebration. Corky, a very, very out-of-date Broadway director, is in charge of recruiting a group of amateur actors to perform a play documenting the town's history. He had high hopes for the play, Red, White and Blaine, and invited Mr. Guffman, a Broadway producer, to watch the premiere of the show, which he believed would be a springboard for his return to Broadway. But what kind of story will happen when this group of hard-working but untalented actors get together. The film was written by director Christopher Geist in 1996 and was well received by critics after its release. He was nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Screenplay in 1998 Independent Spirit Award.
