Nick (Mel Gibson Mel Gibson), a young manager of an advertising agency in Chicago, is a typical male chauvinist. For the new female boss Darcy (Helen Hunt Helen Hunt), he is full of complaints. Darcy asked Nick to design creative advertisements for women's products, which made Darcy have a headache. Accidentally, Nick was electrocuted in his bathroom. The accident gave him a magical skill-mind reading. With this unexpected gain, Nick can now easily know what's on the minds of the women around him. He gradually became addicted to it and was surprised to find that Darcy had always liked him. So Nick decided to take advantage of Darcy's mind to play a trick on her. He tried every means to get close to Darcy to please her, but he didn't know that he was falling in love. Since learning about the inner world of women, the big man finally realized their beauty and went to love with his irreconcilable female boss.
