The film Wuthering Heights is adapted from Emily Bronte's novel of the same name. This edition won the award for best photography (black and white film) at the 12th Academy Awards. Mr. Dean brings a gypsy boy named Heathcliff (Lawrence Oliver Laurence Olivier) back to Wuthering Heights. Daughter Kathy (Mel O'Blanc Merle Oberon) falls in love with him, but refuses to give up her affluent life. Heathcliff learns and leaves quietly, while Casey marries his neighbor Edgar (played by David Niven David Niven). A few years later Heathcliff returned gracefully and bought Wuthering Heights. Edgar's sister, Ibella, fell in love with him, and he married Isabella but treated her coldly. Kathy was also dying of grief. Heathcliff was deranged and survived 20 years of mourning for Casey and expecting death. He was extremely contemptuous and tortured of everyone around him until the ghost of Kathy summoned him somewhere in their favorite wilderness on a snowy winter night and reunited in death.
