This film focuses on the early Hollywood in the 1920s, and the film industry developed from silent film to the transitional period of the era of sound film. This film focuses on the careers and emotions of a couple of leading actors and actresses, and follows the ups and downs of the other three fictional characters of this period; they all have their own historical archetypes. In Los Angeles in 1926, Manny (Diego Calva), a Mexican immigrant, works as a handyman at a wild party hosted by Kinoscope studio executives, where he meets Nellie LaRoy (Margot Robbie), a blonde from the bottom of New Jersey; she just arrived in Los Angeles, rude and ambitious, hoping to become a movie star in Hollywood, and Manny fell in love with her at first sight. Also attending the party were the already famous middle-aged actor Jack Conard (Brad Pitt) and Chinese actress Zhu Fei (Li Lijun), as well as the struggling African-American jazz trumpeter Sidney (John Edpo). At the party, Manny also met Jack and came to work on the set of the film under the introduction of the latter.
