In an estuarine area called Bastrop, the 6-year-old girl "little taco" (Quvenzhan é Wallis) and her father Wenck (Dwight Henry Dwight Henry) live here. A dam isolates Bastrop from the outside world, where people live a relatively primitive life. The dying Wink was very strict with his daughter, hoping that she would learn to survive on her own as soon as possible. A terrible hurricane swept through the small village, and their home was engulfed by beast-like floods. After the catastrophe, the survivors banded together and began to rebuild their homes. However, the matter is not so simple, the flood has not receded, everything in the small village began to decline, and animal carcasses can be seen everywhere. On the other hand, the outside world has designated the area as a compulsory evacuation area, with people entering the village and forcing them to take them to shelters. In the face of a world as cruel as a beast, the little girl is not afraid. She believes that there is a harmonious balance in the universe. Under her father's unique education, she became stronger and stronger and learned to understand the world.
