The story takes place in the early 1980s, when apartheid set off stormy waves in South Africa. Patrick (Derek Luke Derek Luke) is the foreman of the oil refinery. He and his wife Prysses have been married for many years, raising two lovely little daughters together and living a very happy life. The growing racial discrimination excited the local blacks, who vented their anger through violence and destruction. Patrick, the person in charge of the refinery, was arrested by the police after an explosion at the refinery. Although there was no definite evidence to prove that Patrick was responsible, Patrick was treated inhumanely in the police station just because of his skin color. Not only that, his wife was also implicated. Patrick, who was released from prison, was so desperate about reality that he joined the African National Congress Party.
