Judy (Leslie Cullen Leslie Caron) has lost her parents since childhood and grew up in an orphanage. At the age of 17, Judy wrote an article called "melancholy Wednesday," which attracted the attention of the orphanage director (Fred Astere Fred Astaire), who found an unusual literary talent in Judy. The director wrote a letter to Judy anonymously, telling her that he was willing to help her go to college and support her dream of becoming a writer. In exchange, Judy wrote to him every month to report on her studies. Judy said yes. In this way, Judy entered the university campus and began her study. Because she didn't know the real name of the director, Judy affectionately called him Daddy long legs. By chance, Judy met the aristocratic son Jay. Although Judy fell in love with Jay uncontrollably, she knew that the gap between herself and Jay was too big, so she chose to hide the relationship from the bottom of her heart.
