Strauss (Fernand Gravey is acted the role of) loves music, regards music as the ideal of his life, however, the reality is cruel, in order to make a living, he has to sit in the office and work for his boss. Strauss was fired for deserting and writing music at work, but his girlfriend Porty (Louise Reiner Luise Rainer) became his strongest backing, and with Porty's help, Strauss went to the cafe to play his work. By chance, Strauss meets popular singer Carla (Melissa Coyes Miliza Korjus). The existence of Carla inspired Strauss and made him write many immortal famous songs. Porty was full of jealousy about the relationship between Strauss and Carla, but when she saw the beautiful scene of the two of them together, she accepted the reality, while Carla was moved by Porty's noble quality and chose to leave.
