Zhivago (Omar Sharif), who lost his mother when he was young, was passed on to his mother's friend. From then on, she grew up with Dounia, the youngest daughter of the stepmother's family, and successfully completed her medical major and became an excellent doctor. On another parallel lifeline, Lana (Julie Christie), who was born in the tailor's house, is in her golden age of 17. Her mother's lover Victor harassed her from time to time, and her fianc é Paxa, who is keen on the workers' revolution, made Lana worry about her every day. In the days when the labor movement was surging, Zhivago witnessed the brutal crackdown on workers by the authorities, while Lana was defiled by Victor because Paxa was involved in the labor movement. Zhivago and Lana's lives finally converged, and in the chaotic world war soon after, they finally fell in love regardless of their partners. Soon after the Bolsheviks came to power, Zhivago, who returned to his hometown to be reunited with Dounia, found that life went from bad to worse, so that they had to go to the countryside to make a living. Unexpectedly, Zhivago met Lana again in a village in the far north. Based on Pasternak's novel of the same name, this film won an Oscar for best art director in 1966.
