The story takes place in Jerusalem in 1942. David is an American young man serving in the Royal Air Force. He met a Jewish woman during his stay in Jerusalem. The two fell in love at first sight and soon became inseparable. But the woman comes from a very traditional Jewish family, and her parents and relatives are firmly opposed to her association with a pagan. She only has one chance to choose her family or her beloved boyfriend.
