The cavalry, Hondo Lane, met Angie, a woman who lived with her son in hostile Apaki Indian territory. Under the protection of Vitrio, the Apaki Indian leader, she seemed to feel safe. Later, Ryan had an argument with Angie's depraved husband and was forced to kill him without knowing who he was. Vitrio grabs Ryan to save him, while Angie declares to Vitrio that Ryan is her "husband", but her real husband is killed by Ryan. In order to save Angie from a forced marriage, Ryan reluctantly carried out the lie, even though he knew the truth would eventually come out, to Angie and to Vitrio.
