Best-selling horror writer Sartre Kane (Jurgen Prosno J ü rgen Prochnow) is strangely missing. Some of the manuscripts of the novel written by him to be published and printed also mysteriously disappeared. Kane's immersive description and bold forward-looking predictions made the book famous before it was published. Many fans are obsessed with his works and even commit irrational acts of violence. In order not to delay publication, the publisher brought in private investigator John Trent (Sam Neil Sam Neill) and female editor Linda Stiles (Julie Carmen Julie Carmen) to track down Kane. John didn't believe in the magic of the book at first, but when he and Linda arrived in Kane's town, they were shocked. The town is really the same as Kane described, and the horrible and strange things in the novel happen soon.
