Chinese female Jane (Zheng Peipei) and her son Kai (Andrew Leung) depend on each other and emigrate to London from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Ignorant of English, she has always relied on her son to act as eyes and ears, and her son is all she has. However, she does not know Kay's sexual orientation and even thinks that Kay and the Englishman Richard (Ben Weishaw Ben Whishaw) who lives together for a long time are just "roommates". When Kay died in a car accident, the helpless Jane began to get in touch with Richard and began to flip through the unknown images of her son. The old and the young will face the loss of a loved one together-even if they can't communicate with words. "Shake gently", jointly funded by the British Microwave Film Foundation and BBC, is the first feature-length film by Asian director Xu Taifeng. It successfully combines gay feelings with immigration stories, and the delicate and subtle interaction between actors makes the gentle flow of the picture and plot full of tension and vivid interest. "Shake gently" won the best cinematography award at the 2014 Sundance International Film Festival.
