In Sweden at the beginning of the 20th century, there was social unrest and both material and spiritual life were scarce. Maria (Maria Heiskanen Maria Heiskani) is an ordinary housewife, operating a not-so-rich home, an accidental gambling, let her win a camera, her life changed. She began to secretly learn to take pictures, and was fascinated by it. She took pictures of the children growing up and found the beautiful scenery. Slowly, she began to be able to take pictures of her neighbors and earn some money. They were also very satisfied with the photos. When the king visited, she was also invited to take pictures. Of course, it all goes behind her alcoholic husband's back. Often developing and printing photos make Maria familiar with Patterson (Jesper Christensen), the owner of a small local photo studio. He is her Bole, who always praises her talent and encourages her to take pictures. The two have a touch of affection, and are finally courteous and lost in time. Only the wonderful photos taken by Maria remain today. This film is a biography of Maria Larsen, the first female photographer in Swedish history.
