Quills (2000)

Thad (Joffrey Rush Geoffrey Rush) is a 19th century French writer. He is highly talented and advocates freedom of speech, and there are a lot of erotic descriptions in the novel. These works angered the French authorities, and the government put him in an insane asylum. However, the shackles of despotism only made THAAD write more firmly, and the works were born one by one in the insane asylum. The director of the insane asylum is an enlightened young priest. He also reads THAAD's novels and appreciates THAAD's talent and spirit. He provides THAAD with generous living conditions for him to concentrate on writing, while asking laundry girl Medellin (Kate Winslet Kate Winslet) to help THAAD take his work out for publication. There is also a secret relationship between Medellin and THAAD. However, the powerful state apparatus sent THAAD to the gallows. The government could not tolerate his "immorality", but his works were handed down and opened up the minds of the people.
