The Trench (1999)

At the height of the summer of 1919, British troops gathered in North France to launch a massive attack. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers were sent to the battlefield to move towards the future of ignorance. Senior officers estimated that this massive surge of allied troops would effectively wipe out the Germans, but the wrong strategy led to the bloodiest day of slaughter in British history-- the Battle of Salmen, a condensation atmosphere in which the killings were slowly approaching, the anxious long wait before the first wave of attacks, and the fragile human nature reflected in the war.
