In 1812, Napoleon's army controlled most of the European countries. Among the few unconquered countries, Russia intends to join Austria in life-and-death resistance. The nobleman Prince Andrey (Mervor Mel Ferrer) is such an ambitious Russian officer. However, Andre's best friend, Duke Pierre (Henry Fonda Henry Fonda), does not care about the war. He became heir to the estate on his father's deathbed and married Helen (Anita Ackerberg Anita Ekberg), the daughter of the aristocracy, but soon after the marriage he found that he had a different personality and separated. Andre lost the battle and was released to visit his wife who died in childbirth. A few months later, Pierre and count Rostov went hunting and called Andrea. Andre falls in love with the count's daughter Natasha (Audrey Hepburn Audrey Hepburn) at first sight. Soon, Natasha accepted Andre's proposal, but Andre soon returned to the army. Helen's brother Anatoly swooped in to win Natasha's love and instigated Natasha to elope with him. At the beginning of the Russo-French War, Natasha met Andre, who was seriously injured.
